An Exciting Undertaking…

I am so excited to present this series of posts sharing true French home cooking with you!!!!

The pandemic and resulting travel ban for international flights from the US caused me to postpone my big 50th birthday celebration plans… I thought, what is it that I miss most about not being able to see my friends in France, other than seeing my dear, dear friends? It’s sharing in the culture of the French table. So, my sharing this with you is a little like sharing my milestone birthday with you, too!

Champagne anyone???

Is food culture in France able to be replicated just by cooking a meal from any of the 100’s of 1000’s of French cookbooks out there? Hardly. There is a balance in the meal, good people together, a ritual of intelligent discourse and jokes… accompanied casually with wine, while lingering at the table over several courses. It’s something I really love and that I know so many of us with food allergies and sensitivities do not get to experience fully when traveling.

I thought it would be nice to be able to open that world to you while we are still here at home. I’ve been chatting and planning with my friends to find dishes that they cook at home – whether a quick, weeknight favorite, kids’ favorite, or a slightly fancier meal for guests. It’s been so fun to share stories and dig through recipe boxes with them!

It’s now my pleasure to begin sharing these with you, as they become available, modified for US Imperial measures and modified to have no gluten and, when possible, no dairy.

Stay tuned over the weeks and months to come for an assortment of delicious, soul-satisfying virtual travels and treats!
